Fred Profeta
New York Appeals Lawyer Handling Commercial and Personal Injury Matters
After obtaining JD and LL.M degrees from Harvard Law School, Fred Profeta began his legal career at Cadwalader, Wickersham & Taft LLP in Manhattan. It was there that he was introduced to maritime law and maritime litigation, and won his first appeal by securing a reversal for the cargo defendants in a major case relating to the mysterious disappearance of the SS Marine Sulphur Queen - In Re Marine Sulphur Queen, 460 F. 2d 89 (2nd Cir. 1972).
After 3 years with a small general litigation firm, where he developed his expertise in, and love for, appellate practice, Mr. Profeta served for 3 years as General Counsel of Moran Towing & Transportation Co., Inc., then the largest tug and barge company in the US. He continued to litigate in his role as General Counsel, and thereafter founded the general litigation firm of Profeta & Eisenstein. Since then, his practice has been almost entirely devoted to appeals, while his partner, Jethro Eisenstein, has focused on trial work. Mr. Profeta has lectured on his specialty for the New York State Bar Association.
